A desperate search is currently underway in northern Australia for a 12-year-old boy who is feared to have been taken by a crocodile. The incident occurred near the remote town of Palumpa in the Northern Territory, where the child was last seen swimming near Mango Creek. This has sparked fears and concerns among the community, as the NT is known to be home to an estimated 100,000 saltwater crocodiles, making it an area of potential danger.
Police have deployed a specialist search and rescue team to comb both the land and water in search of the missing child. The community in Palumpa, which has only 364 residents, has also joined forces with local law enforcement to aid in the search efforts. Additional officers have been called in, and there are plans to launch an aerial search operation to cover a larger area.
