Edinburgh Zoo bids farewell to giant pandas

Edinburgh Zoo visitors had their last chance to see Tian Tian and Yang Guang, the giant pandas that have been living at the zoo since 2011. The pandas, who are on a 10-year loan from China, are set to return to their home country in December. Despite not producing any cubs during their time in Scotland, the pandas were a major attraction and boosted ticket sales by approximately 50%. Zookeepers and visitors alike have developed attachments to the pandas and are feeling a mix of sadness and nostalgia as they prepare to say goodbye. The pandas will be flown back to China on a date that has not been disclosed for security reasons. Once they arrive, they will undergo a month-long quarantine at the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Centre before being reintroduced to their natural habitat.
