The House Oversight Committee, consisting of Congressional Republicans, has taken a significant step in their impeachment inquiry into President Biden by issuing legal summons to several members of the Biden family. The committee has subpoenaed Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Biden family associate Rob Walker, while also requesting transcribed interviews with five others. In a statement released on Wednesday, the House Oversight Committee declared that it had obtained financial records indicating that Biden family members had allegedly established over 20 shell companies while Joe Biden served as vice president. The purpose behind these companies was to conceal payments received from foreign sources. The committee also asserted that the Biden family, along with their associates and companies, had received more than $24 million from foreign nations, some of which are considered adversaries to the United States.
Chairman James Comer, representing Kentucky, stated, “The House Oversight Committee has meticulously followed the money trail and compiled a record of evidence that reveals how Joe Biden was aware of, involved in, and benefitted from his family’s influence peddling schemes.” Consequently, the committee intends to question members of the Biden family and their associates on this evidence.
The committee has scheduled Hunter Biden to testify under oath before them on December 13th, while James Biden and Rob Walker have been asked to appear on December 6th and November 29th, respectively. In addition, the committee has called upon Melissa Cohen (Hunter’s wife), Sara Biden (James’ wife), Hallie Biden (Hunter’s brother’s widow), Elizabeth Secundy (Hallie’s sister), and Tony Bobulinski (Hunter’s former business partner) to provide transcribed interviews.
